Install WordPress Via the Control Panel
The easiest and fastest way to install a WordPress blog on your web server is to do it from the admin control panel of your web hosting account.
If your hosting provider uses cPanel as the control panel, here are the steps to run a WordPress installation:
1. Log into the control panel (cPanel) of your hosting account.
2. Click on Fantastico (or another script installer).
3. On the navigation bar to the left, click on WordPress.
4. In the window that opens, click on New Installation.
5. If you host more than one domain on this account, choose which one to install WordPress on.
6. In the slot below, type in a directory name to install your blog in a new directory (your blog name is fine). Leave empty to install in the root directory.
7. Type in a username and a password. Write them down as you will use them when logging into the admin area of WordPress!
8. The Base Configuration settings are optional, enter/change anything you like, or leave the slots empty. You can enter/change these things in the WP admin area later.
9. Click on Install WordPress.
10. The next window is showing the details of your new WordPress installation. If you need to change something, click the back button of your web browser and make any changes. If everything is ok, click on Finish Installation.
11. In the next window, you have all the details necessary to log in to your new WP blog admin area (username, password and URL to the admin area). You also have the option to email this information to yourself. Recommended!
12. Click Back to WordPress overview to see all your WP installations. From here you can start a new installation, or delete any you don't need.
